Disney is dropping ‘Fox,’ rebranding its brand-new studio as 20th Century Studios

Disney’s landmark purchase of 20 th Century Fox in 2015 is complete, and now the business is wanting to phase out the “Fox” branding in its brand-new possessions: the 20 th Century Fox film studio is being rebranded to simply “20 th Century Studios,” and Fox Searchlight Pictures is now “Searchlight Pictures,” according to a report from Range

The move far from the Fox brand name isn’t entirely surprising, considered that Fox Corporation– the staying piece of the initial Fox brand name– still exists and runs things like Fox News, Fox Sports, and the Fox TELEVISION channel that weren’t offered to Disney.

Getting Rid Of the “Fox” from the studios and movie departments that Disney does own will presumably make things in the entertainment world a little clearer. (The truth that Fox News, in specific, is a politically controversial brand name that doesn’t gel with Disney’s politically neutral, family-friendly ethos may have also contributed to the name modification.)

The new names will begin presenting quickly. According to Range, Downhill– Searchlight’s next movie– is already set to feature the upgraded logo along with a “Searchlight Pictures Presents” label, while Call of the Wild(out on February 21 st) will be the first to feature the new 20 th Century Studios branding.

All that’s changing is the naming, though: Variety‘s report reassuringly keeps in mind that the renowned 20 th Century Fox opening and excitement will still stay on 20 th Century Studios films, albeit in a modified version that will not have the word “Fox” in it any longer.

The business is still stated to be choosing whether to alter the names of the Fox TV production studios 20 th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios (which are less visible to consumers than the much more prominent film branding).
