The ESA creates an esports scholarship for college competitors

The ESA, the trade organization representing United States video game publishers, revealed on Thursday that it is expanding its 20- year-old scholarship program to consist of esports competitors in college.

The ESA Foundation’s esports scholarship is planned to elevate the involvement of ladies and minorities, who account for an extremely small portion of recipients of the esports scholarships granted by other companies.

The ESA Foundation’s general goal is to advance chances for ladies and minorities in college, and their paths into the video games industry. Established in 2000, it has raised more than $23 million in the two decades since.

The National Association of Collegiate Esports approximated last year that $16 million in esports scholarships have actually been granted given that2016 The NACE makes up more than 170 member institutions across the United States, with more than 5,000 esports competitors registered at them.
