Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater documentary premieres next week

A documentary about the precious Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series of video games, made by a former manufacturer of the franchise, will premiere next week at the Mammoth Movie Celebration in California.

Pretending I’m a Superman is the movie’s title, taking that name from Goldfinger’s “Superman,” a remarkable track from the first game’s soundtrack. Ralph D’Amato, a Neversoft manufacturer on the first game through 2006’s Tony Hawk’s Project 8, partnered with Swedish filmmaker Ludvig Gür to develop thedocumentary It premieres on Feb. 29 at Mammoth Lakes.

The movie was first revealed back in August; it started as a not successful Indiegogo campaign in2017 Mic reported on Wednesday that Pretending I’m a Superman wound up getting independent funding. Mic stated the movie “tracks how the more comprehensive skateboarding market remained in a risky location in the early 90 s,” which the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games were a big part of mainstreaming the sport and way of life.

The documentary features comprehensive interviews with Hawk and fellow skateboarding leaders Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, and Chad Muska, all of whom co-starred in numerous variations of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skaterseries Hawk and Mullen will sign up with the fillmmakers for a panel conversation after the screening.
