No spoilers for The Boys season 2, but … there’s more to the story.
During the SDCC 2020 panel for the hit comics series, manufacturers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg revealed up to reveal that The Boys season 3 had already been greenlit by Amazon in anticipation of its second season, due in September.
“If you like The Boys, you’ve got more of it … thank god,” Rogen stated.
According to Amazon, the “even more intense, more insane” season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the Supes, and attempting to regroup to fight back against Vought. During the panel, the cast provided the first clip from the new season, in which Butcher, Hughie, and Mother’s Milk are faced by The Deep and a huge whale, and consequently drive a boat through the undersea monster’s blubber. It’s wicked amusing.
Here’s the full run-through for season 2:
In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) attempt to adapt to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) no place to befound Starlight (Erin Moriarty) should browse her place in The 7 as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media- smart new Supe, who has an program of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain hazard takes spotlight and makes waves as Vought looks for to capitalize on the country’s fear.
As for season 3, it’s uncertain when the cast and team may navigate to making it. The current scenario with the coronavirus pandemic and state shutdowns leave the future unidentified for the series.
“When can we film season 3?” Rogen stated out loud. “Anyone’s guess. Hopefully sometime this decade!”
The first 3 episodes of The Boys season 2 launchings on Sept. 4. Subsequent episodes will drop on Fridays through Oct. 9.
