Last year, indie developer Thomas Happ announced Axiom Verge 2, and offered it a vague release window of “fall 2020.” Nevertheless, considering that it is now fall 2020, an update appears to be in order– something that Happ offered today via this post on the Axiom Verge 2 website. The bad news? The game is delayed to thefirst half of 2021 The good news? It still looks like an appealing follow-up to the 2015 original.
“I had my concerns about whether people would even care at all about a sequel coming 5 years after the release of the original,” Happ composes. (*2 *)
In the post, Happ discusses some of the factors for the hold-up. Naturally, the global pandemic plays a role, however so does Axiom Verge 2’s increased aspirations compared to its predecessor. This consists of more smart enemies and less blocky environments, to name a few features Happ has elected not to ruin.
Anytime it launches, we’re still delighted to play Axiom Verge 2 The original got a 9.25 out of 10 review from Game Informer, and we just recently stated it one of the best games of the generation.
