Xbox presentation reportedly set on Bethesda purchase

An Xbox presentation on the Bethesda purchase is reportedly scheduled for this week to answer questions that remain unanswered.

Microsoft’s $ 7.5 billion acquisition of Zenimax Media was approved by regulators in the United States and Europe, but the companies involved and fans of games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls still want answers to some questions. According to Gamesbeat, Microsoft will be holding a presentation next Thursday on what the ZeniMax deal means for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Microsoft is unlikely to have anything to say about Bethesda’s ongoing projects or the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls VI. However, both companies plan to have separate exhibitions in June around the scheduled dates of E3.

While PlayStation players also fear that Bethesda games could become Xbox exclusives, it’s still unclear whether Microsoft and Bethesda will address the platform exclusivity question in Thursday’s presentation. Currently, Bethesda has two PS5-timed exclusives, Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo, which Xbox has said will honor them. However, concerns about exclusivity have centered on Indiana Jones, Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI.

Still, the presentation can be used to talk about Bethesda games that should be introduced in Game Pass soon and to reiterate that every future (and contractually eligible) game from Zenimax Game Pass will be released at launch.

Before the purchase was finalized, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, claimed that Bethesda’s development teams will be “very, very critical” of the future of the Xbox platform.

“Probably more important to me right now are the Bethesda teams because those teams are going to be very, very critical of our future progress.”

According to Gamesbeat, Microsoft will likely confirm the presentation on Thursday for the next two days.
