Game studio CD Projekt RED just now announced new information about what is happening with Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.2.

CDPR has just released more information about the upcoming update 1.2. It contains some features that will be added to the game and issues that will be fixed. First was how the NCPD AI would be solved.

Several reviewers and critics complained that the NCPD Quick Response Team was too quick when they got to the scene and started shooting their character. It seemed like they were going to appear out of nowhere and it felt like it was unfair to everyone. Here’s what CDPR had to say:

“This is an important step to address police behavior in our game. It should alleviate the problem of NPCs spawning behind players’ backs and giving the impression that it takes some time for the police to arrive at the crime scene after the crime is reported. Update 1.2 solves the problem when driving vehicles. It now becomes easier with the addition of the steering sensitivity. It will make driving safer, smoother and not wobbly compared to previous iterations.

“Analyzing feedback on our driving model suggested that many players had problems with the speed of the controls. Most of the complaints came from players using keyboards on PC or on platforms with lower frame rates, and focused on how difficult it was to keep cars off the sidewalks and the like.

We’ve added a steering sensitivity slider to the Options menu. This allows the steering speed to be slowed down for all vehicles and all input devices, without affecting the maximum turning radius.
At lower frame rates, our cars were more difficult to drive. We reduced this to a code that did not properly handle extreme changes in the frame rate. Control speed is now very consistent from 20 to 60+ FPS.

Finally, we looked at some tweaks to individual cars and tweaked some that were too nervous at low frame rates, including the player’s Archer Hella. – Séamus, Senior Vehicle Programmer, CD PROJEKT RED

Players who have the unfortunate timing of locking up their vehicles on islands and sidewalks can now easily get them on offer with this new update. This is called the Unstuck feature which is triggered when they speed up and don’t move at all. Here’s how to do it:

“There are instances where our vehicles can be stranded or highly centered on things in Night City. We have now added an Unstuck feature that activates when you accelerate and don’t move. While holding the accelerator pedal, you can now rock the vehicle forward or backward, or turn left / right. – Séamus, Senior Vehicle Programmer, CD PROJEKT RED

Dodging now becomes easier as double tapping the directional keys / buttons bindings can now be disabled with the upcoming update. It can still be done by the squat / wrench. The WASD bindings can also be moved.

“Double tap dodge on a motion key can be turned off in control settings. The Dodge action can still be performed by double-tapping the Crouch action key (default C).

It should now be better to move WASD bindings around the keyboard. There are still a few bindings that need to be addressed, but these should be resolved in upcoming patches. – Wojtek, Tools Programmer, CD PROJEKT RED

No details yet when update 1.2 will be released, but this is a pretty big improvement if installed later.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. PS5 and Xbox Series X / S upgrades may be released within this year.
