A new Captain America debuts in Marvel Cinematic Universe as Disney + launches Marvel Studios’ second live action series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but for a short while in January, it looked like the shield could have returned to Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

Usually one of the most reliable sources, Deadline reported that Marvel and Evans were in talks about his return as Captain America for “at least” one more outing after his Old Man Steve ending in Avengers: Endgame

Evans himself was then quick to downplay the report, saying it was “news to me,” and now Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has discussed the allegations in a promotional interview for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, stating that, “I rarely answer no anymore because things always surprise me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was dispelled pretty quickly by the man himself.”

That’s not a definitive “no,” of course, and it may very well turn out in time that we didn’t see the last of Evans in the MCU, but right now it seems like Marvel is eager to look to the future and the next. generation of Marvel heroes.
