Deadline reports that Ridley Scott is collaborating Peaky blinders creator Steven Knight for Paths to freedom, a ten-part WWII epic in which the conflict is explored from multiple international perspectives.

Based on the books of historian Antony Beevor, Paths to freedom “Will portray the brutal reality from multiple points of view, with characters not only from the US and UK, but also from Russia, Germany, France and other countries around the world. That includes women and children struggling to survive. The emphasis is on humanity, the characters connected by one dramatic story. Some storylines will be awkward, but heroic, and the race between East and West to conquer Berlin will shed light on what became the foundations of the Cold War. “

Knight and Beevor will script and co-produce all ten episodes of the series with Scott, who is also on board to direct the first episode. The series unites Scott and Knight, who have previously collaborated on Taboo and A Christmas song, as well as Dickens’ upcoming adaptation Great expectations
