For longtime fans of the video game franchise, the upcoming one Resident Evil the new title of the movie is likely to be appreciated. After years of films refusing to pay respect to the games, director Johannes Roberts is trying to change that with this reboot.

Initially reported by IGN of SXSW’s online event – according to Roberts – is the new title Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon CityYes, the iconic city from the games, which only appears in one of the other six films, returns to the big screen.

Roberts also provided some other details about the project, confirming that it will focus on adapting the first two games in the series. By adapting these games, this movie is set in 1998. As reported for quite some time now, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City contains the Spencer Mansion and the Raccoon City Police Department, two iconic game combinations.

During the SXSW event, Johannes Roberts also opened up to IGN about what attracts him Resident Evil, stating, “What I loved about the games is that they were just scary, and that’s very much what I wanted. That atmosphere – it’s rain, it’s dark all the time, it’s creepy, ”says Roberts. “Raccoon City is such a rotten character in the movie and that kind of atmosphere in the games that I wanted to play [the film]
