Nintendo Switch system update 12.0.0 released, but the release notes are almost nonexistent

Nintendo just rolled out the Nintendo Switch system update 12.0.0 worldwide, but the release notes for the firmware update are almost non-existent.

The update which is version 12.0.0 should indicate that this is a major update to Nintendo’s popular hybrid platform, but the release notes only state that it fixes a data backup saving feature. If we are to believe the patch notes, the firmware update doesn’t even add more stability to the Switch – quite unusual since Nintendo made the Switch as stable as a brick house for the past four years (pun intended).

However, it is likely that, as with most major Switch updates, the new system update will include under the hood changes or fixes that are not included in the release notes. We bet time will tell what these changes entail. Of course we will update as soon as we find out about this new system update. For now we have the official release notes for this update below:

Far. 12.0.0 (released April 5, 2021)

  • We fixed the issue with the backup of saved data feature, where in rare cases automatic backup of saved data is interrupted if a communication error occurs while completing the backup process for saved data.

The Nintendo Switch is now available worldwide. Nintendo released its hybrid platform in March 2017. Recent reports suggest the company plans to release a new 4K Switch model by the end of this year that features NVIDIA’s DLSS upscaling technology coupled with a 7-inch Samsung OLED display. The new model would also include a better CPU and more memory. According to Bloomberg, the new model will retail for $ 349 / € 399.

Nintendo has not officially commented on this rumored new Switch “Pro” model.
