BioWare reveals more details of changes for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

We are just a month away from the launch of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, the highly anticipated remaster of BioWare’s sci-fi RPG titles. This recent blog post on the game’s official site details changes such as the refinement of the first Mass Effect’s combat and gunplay without alienating what fans loved about the game.

“We didn’t want to unnecessarily change what our fans love about each game,” the blog post said. “That turned out to be a unique challenge, as the first game is quite different from the second and third in terms of gameplay and combat. Mass Effect was heavily influenced by traditional RPG mechanics, such as the randomness of a die roll and pen and paper building. As a result, weapons in Mass Effect often felt less accurate and reliable than the gunfights in Mass Effect 2 and 3. “

The team wanted to address the changes without “changing” too much of the overall feel of the game. Rifles in this remaster for the first Mass Effect are already consistent to maintain that firepower, and they’ve improved the aiming aid to make console players even more accurate.

Another valuable improvement is the overall experience of operating the M-35 Mako. “This legendary vehicle from the first Mass Effect has been” calibrated “to perform better than ever,” said the blog post. They also noted that the Mako shields will charge faster and that new thrusters will be added to the rear of the vehicle for speed boost.
