After recently unveiling its new laser-guided vacuum cleaner, Dyson is back with another smart innovation that could make your home a whole lot safer to live in. your living space, but it can even detect and kill bugs, including the H1N1 virus. That sounds impressive, but there’s another reason why you might want to install one of these Dyson devices in your home.

The company says this latest gadget will constantly monitor the levels of pollutants in the room and then start destroying them. One of the most troubling dangers lurking in our homes is the chemical formaldehyde.

This colorless gas, which can cause asthma-like respiratory problems and skin irritation, is sometimes released from furniture and wood products containing formaldehyde-based resins such as plywood and fiberboard. It is also found in insulation materials and DIY products such as paint, wallpaper, varnishes and even household cleaning products.

These harmful particles are very difficult to catch because they are incredibly small, but Dyson thinks it has figured out a way to make sure you don’t breathe them into your lungs.

The company’s Selective Catalytic Oxidization (SCO) filter continuously destroys formaldehyde at the molecular level and is designed to ensure accurate detection of the contaminant over the life of the machine.

The design uses billions of atom-sized tunnels that trap and destroy formaldehyde and break it down into small amounts of water and CO2. It then regenerates from oxygen in the air to continuously destroy it without ever needing to be replaced.

You can also constantly monitor pollution, temperature and humidity levels through an app on your phone, and Dyson says the latest air purifiers have been made much quieter than before.

When you consider that we all breathe in up to 9,000 liters of air and spend as much as 90 percent of our time indoors with a clean environment, this can be of great importance to our health.

Alex Knox, Vice President of Environmental Care at Dyson, said of the new device: “Formaldehyde’s tendency to release gas means it can go unnoticed in a home for years. Dyson has developed a machine that enables accurate and successful detection, capture and destruction of the pollutant.

“Our solid-state sensor does not dry out over time, extending the life of the machine. The COVID-19 pandemic has raised global awareness of the air we breathe and Dyson’s commitment to using innovation and technology for cleaner providing air remains at the forefront of our mission. “

The new air purifier with formaldehyde detection will be available soon in white / gold and will cost £ 599.
