James Bond cast: is Regé-Jean Page the new Bond?

Recent articles

James Bond fans have been speculating for a long time about who could take over from Daniel Craig. Daniel suggested stepping back from the role before the original No Time to Die release date, and now the movie’s delay may have delayed the major news as well. One name has come up a lot lately: Regé-Jean Page.

Is Regé-Jean Page the new Bond?

At the moment, Regé-Jean Page is cited as the favorite to follow in Daniel Craig’s footsteps, but no such confirmation has been given.

Previously, names like Tom Hardy and Sam Heughan were a good chance for the role, but recent news has landed fans with a new favorite.

Bridgerton fans were utterly shocked when Lady Whistledown wrote a note telling them about the departure of the Duke of Hastings, Regé-Jean’s character on the Netflix show.

The announcement via the Bridgerton Twitter page read: “Dear readers, while all eyes are on Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s search for a viscountess, we bid farewell to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings.

“We will miss Simon’s on-screen presence, but he will always be part of the Bridgerton family.

“Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers could possibly bear. Sincerely, Lady Whistledown. ”

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “The news that Rege-Jean Page will not be returning for Bridgerton’s second tier has led to many assumptions from those who think he will make the perfect James Bond.

“We’re making him a favorite now, ahead of Tom Hardy, who will succeed Daniel Craig as 007.”

While these opportunities may be attractive and have gagged news of Regé-Jean’s departure from Bridgerton, there are those who believe he is just a taste of the month.

Dr. Ian Kinane, a senior lecturer at the University of Roehampton and editor of the International Journal of James Bond Studies, gave his expert opinion on whether it might be Regé-Jean to take the role before there was news of it the departure of the actor from Bridgerton.

He said: “As a young British actor who has suddenly become famous on a suddenly hit Netflix show, people are paying attention.

‘I think the response might be a bit jerky, a premature cry …

“I think part of the premature response is about Regé-Jean Page’s physical desires as a leading man.

“It would of course be preferable if the future James Bond could perform and not just be a coat hanger for fine tuxedo.

“My point is that much of the current hype is about Page’s status as a heartbreaking day.”

One thing that Dr. Kinane made it clear is that there is certainly precedent for actors who have appeared in period drama to get onto the action circuit via Bond.

He said: “It is not unheard of that a future James Bond is known to have donned a historical costume at some point in his pre-Bond career.

For example, Daniel Craig appeared in Elizabeth (1998); and Timothy Dalton virtually made a name for herself in costume dramas and other historical plays. ”

Bridgerton may have provided Regé-Jean with the perfect training ground for Bond, but right now the producers of Eon and Regé-Jean have kept their mouths shut taking over from Daniel.

Recently, Regé-Jean spoke to The Mirror about the renewed interest in the rumors: “Ah, the ‘B’ word. I think if you’re British and you do something amazing that other people take into account, people will start talking about it.

‘I think that’s pretty normal, and I’m flattered in the category of British people have noticed. Nothing more – or less – than that. ‘

Until the release of No Time to Die, Eon’s producers are unlikely to make any announcements about Daniel’s replacement, so fans will be waiting a little longer.
