Patch Notes released today provides an early look at the next Outriders update coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Scheduled to launch next week, Square Enix has decided to share early Outriders patch notes to make sure everyone knows what’s going on.

And at the top of the list of features being fixed is crossplay, which is currently unavailable for most players between console and PC.

The good news is that when everyone has patched their games next week, Outriders Crossplay should be fixed and ready to go.

This will be the first major update for Outriders, and the team is wary of causing further problems that could make servers even more unstable.

There is no set time or date when the new Outriders patch will be available for download, but we do know it will be available sometime next week.

We expect notices at least 24 hours before it arrives tonight, with Square Enix gamers:

“The implementation of this patch is currently scheduled for next week as we use this week to identify as many serious issues as possible, fix them and then thoroughly test the changes across all platforms.

“Submissions via platform holders also save some time, so we cannot implement this patch sooner.

“We are doing our very best to get you a stable patch as soon as possible and we are constantly looking for ways to release the patch a day earlier. This is why we do not commit to a release date for a patch yet, as we may be able to release the patch before such a date.

“We’ll let you know as soon as we have a confirmed release schedule, so keep an eye on our social channels and our Twitter in particular.”

As for the patch notes released today, they confirm that changes are being made to the way multiplayer features work and that the support team is also trying to fix some server issues.

This doesn’t mean everything will roll smoothly like an egg, but it should help solve some of the worst problems.

This also includes player inventories being cleared due to a horrific bug that will remain in play for the next few days.

Developers Humans Can Fly also make a number of balance changes in the game, including what kind of loot comes from certain missions and activities.

This includes Historian, Bounty Hunt, and Monster Hunt missions that no longer yield Legendary items for each subsequent completion.

A message from the Outriders team explains: “While our intention is still to reward players for completing all Historian, Bounty Hunt, and Monster Hunt missions, we saw unintended results when players repeated this activity in conjunction with a specific multiplayer bug .

“With this compensation adjustment, we want to eliminate this exploit behavior and still make that search worthwhile. Players who took advantage of this exploit will not be penalized. “

PC and console platforms:

  • Once platforms are updated to the same patch version, cross-play on different platforms will become viable again

  • General stability improvements for the matchmaking service

  • Crash fixes

    • Fixes a multiplayer crash that could cause client player inventory to be cleared

    • Fixes the crash when completing the “A Bad Day” side quest.

    • Fixes the crash that occurs in No Man’s Land when your language is set to Spanish (yes, we know. Video game code is a magical thing).

    • Fixes crash on startup problems

    • Includes many more “random” crash fixes

      • We are confident these fixes will address the majority of reported crashes as there are only a handful of root causes, but the crashes they generate show up in a number of places.

  • Fixes the HUD disappearing in certain cases

  • Fixes bugs that interfere with player re-spawning in Multiplayer Expeditions

  • Fixes bugs where players get stuck in geometry (including when using Gravity Leap) or fall out of the world.

  • Changes the default matchmaking setting from “Open” to “Closed”.

    • You can still manually change this setting to “Open” through your game settings

    • This change will prevent players from participating in games that the host did not intend to play in multiplayer. It will also reduce the number of AFK lobbies

    • This will also help improve matchmaking times, as queues are less likely to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of constant matchmaking requests generated by “open” games.

  • Lots of other minor fixes and improvements

PC specific:

  • Fixes a performance issue where the GPU is not fully utilized. This should help with stuttering and DX11 / 12 issues

BALANCE SHEET CHANGES

  • Customized loot on specific enemies: Tooka Beast, Splittooth, Sandshifter and Coldclaw

    • These particular beasts are too generous given the effort required to take them down.

  • Chem Plant – Expedition time for Gold / Silver / Bronze adjusted to 650/1150/1500 seconds (previously: 957/1303/1650)

  • Boom Town – Expedition time for Gold / Silver / Bronze changed to 390/589/776 seconds (previously: 422/607/792)

    • Some expeditions seem to be too generous in their required completion times compared to others.

    • We want to avoid such disproportionate discrepancies because we believe that making all expeditions viable leads to a more diverse and thus more interesting end game.

  • Critical Rating Damage Multiplier on Tactical Assault Rifle reduced to 165% (previously: 175%)

  • Critical Rating Damage Multiplier on Marksman Rifle reduced to 250% (previously: 300%)

    • Marksman Rifles with a critical hit percentage of 300% were found to dominate multiple critical hits. By making the modifier the same as for a Bolt Action Rifle, we want to give players more options in choosing which weapon to use.

  • The duration of the Bloodbath AP buff has been reduced to 3 seconds

    • This is a temporary measure until we fix an issue with the stack cap.

Bullet abilities (twisted rounds, destroyed rounds and volcanic rounds):

While we fully intend to provide the overwhelming feel for the best builds out there, we also do everything we can to ensure there is diversity in the best performing builds.

At the end of the demo lifecycle, we discovered a bug related to the damage calculation formula for bullet augmentation capabilities. While we were fixing this bug, some unforeseen imbalances were unfortunately introduced, which have resulted in bullet-based abilities outperforming other abilities. The main problem with this is that such bullet-based builds require much less investment to make them “top tier” compared to other builds.

To accomplish this, we’ve made some tweaks for the Trickster and Technomancer classes, which benefit the most from their bullet skills. It is uncertain whether these changes will turn out to be too strong or too weak, so consider this the first step as we will continue to monitor and adjust them in the future. Like you, we hope to see more inspiring and crazy combinations of Abilities and Mods!

  • Increased base cooldown of the Twisted Rounds ability to 25 seconds (previously: 16 seconds)

    • While infinite uptime of bullets’ capabilities has always been our intention, it is intended to be a high-risk, high-reward style of play. However, given the current strength of this ability, there is very little risk associated with this ability, given the short cooldown period, even if players fail to replenish ammo. Increasing the cool down period in conjunction with adjusting the damage should increase that risk and make this playstyle a more exciting experience.

  • The Trickster’s Hero Tree Nodes: – Disruptive Firepower, Scion of Power, Outrider Executioner – their power has been reduced to 35% (previously: 50%)

    • The combination of Twisted Rounds’ increase in firepower on top of the multipliers provided by the class tree leads to a massive increase in the damage done by this ability. While we understand the satisfaction that this kind of power can bring, it is currently outperforming our wildest expectations and so we need to take it down a notch.

  • “Vulnerable” Status – Power reduced to 15% (previously: 25%)

  • The power of the Technomancer Hero Tree node – “Damage Against Poison” – has been reduced to 15% (previously: 30%)

    • While the Technomancer’s Blighted Rounds by themselves do not increase damage, other than ignoring armor like Anomaly Damage, they do provide an excellent tool for spreading the Vulnerable and Toxic statuses. which in turn can scale out of proportion.

  • The Pyromancer Hero Tree Node – “Trial of Ashes” – is reduced by 15% extra damage (previously: 30%)
