Square Enix News Feed kicks off today with the latest news about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake was one of the jewels in the crown of the PS4 game library, first appearing as an exclusive version for Sony’s console in April 2020. Final Fantasy 7 Remake has also appeared at a number of Sony events, including the big reveal at E3 2015 and during the recent state of play where the upcoming PS5 version – Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade – was announced.

This week, however, the timed exclusivity deal for Final Fantasy 7 Remake has reportedly expired.

As highlighted by independent video game analyst Benji-Sales on Twitter: “Like a heads-up, the contract for Final Fantasy VII Remake exclusivity for PlayStation ends in 3 days on April 10, 2021

“So if Square Enix has plans to bring this game to other platforms like PC or Xbox, they can start talking about it this month.”

Twitter user @BenjiSales went on to say that this does not mean there could be an announcement of an Xbox or PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake in the coming months.

The analyst wrote, “To be clear, this doesn’t mean they will announce it this month, or next month, or even six months from now.

“It just means that the timed exclusivity agreement for the game is expiring, so technically Square Enix can release the game wherever they want after April 10th”.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake isn’t the only FF game for which Sony has struck exclusive deals.

The upcoming Final Fantasy 16 is also a PS5 exclusive, and we’ll have to wait and see if a similar deal can be struck for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.

Elsewhere, Square Enix fans have come to hope that a long-lost JRPG franchise could be revived.

Front Mission is a tactical RPG with mechas that first debuted on the SNES in 1995.

Submissions in the series continued to the PS1, PS2, Bandai Wonderswan, Nintendo DS and PS3 and Xbox 360.

The last game called Front Mission was 2010’s Front Mission Evolved, but 2019’s Left Alive for the PS4 is also set in the FM series.

And hope has been raised that Square Enix plans to bring back the futuristic RPG.

As reported by Siliconera, Square Enix recently filed a Front Mission trademark for multiple regions.

Hopefully it’s a sign that Front Mission could be making a comeback, but Square Enix filed a trademark for Parasite Eve a few years ago and unfortunately we didn’t hear about a new game starring Aya Brea – even though we did. so be. astonishing

Other Square Enix news has surfaced that Xbox Game Pass could get more games from the Japanese gaming giant.

According to IGN Korea (via GameRant) following the recent arrival of Octopath Traveler, six more Square Enix games could go to Xbox Game Pass.

What those games are remains to be seen – could they be already released games like, say, Balan Wonderland, Marvel’s Avengers or Trials of Mana?

Or could Final Fantasy 7 Remake make its way to Game Pass now that Sony’s timed exclusive deal has reportedly ended?

And finally, we round out our Square Enix news list with an update on NEO: The World Ends With You.

The Shinjuku-based Japanese gaming giant has confirmed the release date for the upcoming TWEWY sequel.

NEO: The World Ends With You has been confirmed to be out on July 27, and in addition to the already confirmed Nintendo Switch version, the stylish action JRPG has also been revealed to be heading to PS4.

The gorgeous-looking, anime-infused JRPG is a sequel to the super-hip Nintendo DS cult classic The World Ends With You from 2007.
