Alien Isolation on Epic Games Store
Alien Isolation is next in line to join Epic Games Store’s line of free games.
As old customers will know, Epic is giving away at least one game for free every Thursday.
Three games are currently available for free this week, followed by two more games on April 22. Those are five reasons to cheer if you have a PC and an Epic Games Store account.
The current line-up includes The First Tree, Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth and Deponia: The Complete Journey. This will be followed by Hand of Fate 2 and Alien Isolation on April 22.
Undoubtedly, Alien Isolation is the pick of the bunch, especially for fans of the original movie.
“When she left Earth, Ellen Ripley promised her daughter that she would return home to celebrate her eleventh birthday. She never made it,” the official description read.
Fifteen years later, Amanda Ripley learns that her mother’s ship’s flight recorder has been recovered. Amanda enters the Sevastopol space station to finally solve the mystery of her mother’s disappearance before confronting an unknown threat.
“Go on a terrifying quest for survival as you navigate the labyrinthine Sevastopol station. Unprepared and inadequately equipped, you’ll need all your wits and guts to get out alive.”
While the game arguably trumps its welcome in the end, the atmosphere and suspense certainly make up for any shortcomings.
If you enjoy the Alien Isolation campaign, it’s worth investing in the Last Survivor DLC, in which Sigourney Weaver reprises her role as Ellen Ripley.
The highly acclaimed Hand of Fate 2, which combines board and role-playing games, is also worth checking out on April 22.
The dungeon crawler challenges players to earn new cards and defeat enemies in a live board game.
“A new hero has risen to challenge the Dealer in Hand of Fate 2!” the description explains.
“Master a living board game of infinitely replayable quests – unlock new cards, build your adventure, and defeat your enemies in brutal real-time battles!”
As for this week’s free games, Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth is my favorite, although Deponia: The Complete Journey is generally well liked by fans and critics alike.
When Rufus meets Goal in one of his attempts to leave Deponia behind, he not only falls madly in love with the beautiful girl from Elysium; he also accidentally pushes her from her comfortable star cruiser to the deserted garbage planet. .
“This accident leads to a new, brilliant plan: he must bring Goal back to the floating city of Elysium – and while he’s at it, he could also impersonate her dowdy fiancé Cletus, who for some reason is the likeness of Rufus this is how an exciting adventure begins … “
Deponia: The Complete Journey also includes several bonus features, including developer commentary, new songs, and making-of videos.
