Barry Jenkins’ The Underground Railroad gets a new trailer from Amazon

With just a month to go before it premieres on Amazon Prime Video, a new trailer has been released for it Moonlight and If Beale Street could talk director Barry Jenkins’ adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The underground railway who follows Cora Randall (Thuso Mbedu) as she makes a desperate attempt for freedom, escapes a Georgia plantation in search of rumors that she is going underground; check it out here …

The Underground Railroad describes Cora Randall’s (newcomer Thuso Mbedu) desperate pursuit of freedom in the pre-war South. After escaping a Georgia plantation from the rumors of the Underground Railroad, Cora discovers not just any metaphor, but a real railroad full of engineers and conductors, and a secret network of tracks and tunnels beneath the southern soil.

In the course of her journey, Cora is chased by Ridgeway (Joel Edgerton), a bounty hunter eager to return her to the plantation she escaped; especially since her mother Mabel is the only one he’s never caught.

The series features a cast that includes Chase W. Dillon and Joel Edgerton. Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, Sheila Atim, Amber Gray, Peter De Jersey, Chukwudi Iwuji, Damon Herriman, Lily Rabe, Irone Singleton, Mychal-Bella Bowman, Marcus “MJ” Gladney, Jr., Will Poulter, and Peter Mullan.

The Underground Railroad will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 14.
