Installing Windows 10 updates can often be a chilling experience. Reports come up regularly from PC fans experiencing issues after downloading and installing the latest Windows 10 update pushed by Microsoft. An example of this was the March 2021 release of Patch Tuesday, where Windows 10 users encountered a number of issues after installation – the biggest flaw being the printer compatibility issues that caused the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) error reappeared.

After this March 2021 release, an emergency update was rolled out to address printer issues that users were facing. But it was hoped that this nagging problem would be nipped in the bud once and for all with the final Patch Tuesday release for April.

This patch rolled out on Tuesday, April 13, but unfortunately it’s a bit of history repeating for Windows 10 users.

Windows Newest has reported that users have encountered some issues with the KB5001330 update. In particular, there is a growing number of reports of PC users unable to install the update.

On social media sites and the Feedback Hub, Windows 10 users have reported issues with the latest update, saying they were getting one of the three main error codes: 0x800f081f, 0x800f0984, or 0x800f0922.

An affected user wrote, “Get the above mentioned error on every attempt to install this update. Have run the standard DISM and SFC command and performed a basic Windows Update reset.”

While another posted, “I’m getting a constant error from KP5001330 to install with error code 0x800f0984. This is happening on Surface Studio 2 and Pro 7. This is the second straight month that Microsoft has released the cumulative update on my machines. Installation pauses at 20 percent, then 73 percent (different from last month’s 40 percent), then 100 percent and failed. “

There are also reports that the nightmarish temporary user bug – which sees a new user profile appear as soon as a machine boots up after installing a cumulative update – has also resurfaced.

An affected user raised the issue on the Windows focused site and said, “I have been unable to access my computer since the update.

“It says ‘User profile service service failed at login. User profile cannot be loaded'”.

Elsewhere, such as TechRadar marked, op Reddit Some Windows 10 users who were able to install the update have said they have experienced reduced gaming performance with graphics issues such as stuttering frame rates.

An affected Windows 10 user wrote, “This update also gave me problems in the form of noticeable hiccups / hiccups in games where this normally never happened, with or without vsync on.

“Uninstallation solved the problem for me too, and I tested on a separate install to confirm that the update was indeed the culprit. Sounds similar to yours. I hope Microsoft will look into it.”

Judging by previous problematic Windows 10 update updates, Microsoft may try to release an emergency patch to address some of the most common issues that users are facing.

But we will have to wait for official confirmation on that front.
