If you don’t have Oculus Quest 2, Capcom has given fans a good reason to invest.
One of the best games ever made, Resident Evil 4 has been announced for the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality platform.
The surprise announcement was made earlier this week, in addition to plans to showcase the game at the upcoming Oculus Gaming Showcase.
“It’s the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise and we’re celebrating in style with the news that Capcom is partnering with Oculus Studios and Armature Studio to bring its respected survival horror game Resident Evil 4 to VR, exclusive to VR. the Oculus Quest 2., “the official announcement reads.
“We’ll be sharing more details at the Oculus Gaming Showcase next week, so tune in to Twitch, Facebook or YouTube on April 21 to learn more about how we’ve brought this much-loved survival horror classic to VR, including new gameplay footage.”
Resident Evil 4 was a reinvention for the franchise, with an over-the-shoulder perspective and no zombies.
“This game heralds a new phase in the Resident Evil franchise and focuses on the events following the Umbrella Corporation’s disbandment.
“The groundbreaking over-the-shoulder camera perspective deviates from the fixed camera views seen in previous submissions, enabling unparalleled action gameplay that has been met with critical acclaim.”
Leon Kennedy takes center stage again in the game after his lead role in Resident Evil 2.
Instead of the familiar environment of Raccoon City, Resident Evil 4 moved the action to a village in Europe.
“In the wake of Raccoon City’s completely unprecedented biological disaster, Umbrella has disbanded the company exposed as the initiator of those atrocities.
Leon S. Kennedy, a survivor of the incident, has become a special agent directly employed by the President of the United States.

The president’s daughter has been kidnapped and Leon has been following eyewitness accounts in a cold village in Europe. In that village a new intrigue awaits … ‘
We’ll see if the VR version does the game justice when Oculus holds its VR game showcase.
The event will take place on April 21 and will focus on new and existing Oculus games, such as Pistol Whip, Lone Echo II and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.
