MLB The Show 21 down reports are pouring in today on the big release day for the latest entry in Sony’s hugely popular baseball series. Independent Downtime Monitor Down Detector has recorded a massive spike in MLB The Show down reports – the second such outage in less than 24 hours. At the time of writing, downdetector.com has recorded a spike of over 1,500 reports from MLB.

The previous outage earlier today recorded a spike of nearly 3,000 reports from MLB The Show down.

According to downdetector.com statistics, server connection problems are the main problem affecting MLB The Show 21 players.

While on Twitter, MLB fans tweet to say they have received an “unhandled server exception occurred” network error notification.

While the MLB The Show hit 21 server problems, fans took to the social networking site Twitter to report issues they were facing.

One tweeted: “@MLBTheShow keeps getting handled exception error.

“Come on, I know it’s a PlayStation game, but I want to hit some balls !!!!”

Another posted: “@MLBTheShow keeps getting an unhandled error”.

One added: “@MLBTheShow I bought 150,000 stubs last night and when I tried to claim them and then an error happened I couldn’t claim them anymore”.

And another wrote: “@MLBTheShow I tried to link my account and I lost all progress on PSN. I keep getting errors on the website when I try to disconnect or reconnect. What should I do ??”

But MLB servers are certainly dealing with the largest number of players it has ever dealt with.

In addition to MLB The Show 21 first released on Xbox consoles, the hit baseball game is also available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if this double whammy resulted in the largest number of players ever trying out a new MLB game on release day.
