The Oscars bring together the biggest names in the film industry for an evening of awards and after parties. With the pandemic still lurking, the awards will take place in a completely different way in 2021. Express.co.uk provides an overview of all nominees and how the event will take place this year.
Who will be nominated for an Oscar in 2021?
Few movies have hit theaters this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, they were officially ineligible for an award, as films must have been shown in theaters for a certain amount of time to qualify for an Oscar.
Given that many cinemas have closed, it appears that there may have been some reimbursements before 2021, yet the field is small due to the many delays in film releases.
Nonetheless, the show must go on, and the Oscars will take place this year at a new location, the Union Station in Los Angeles.
Usually the prices are at the Dolby Theater, but changes have been made to make the show applicable to new Covid rules.

A spokesperson for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences told Entertainment Weekly how they are “determined to present an Oscars like no other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of everyone who will attend.”
In addition, there will be a “personal show that our global audience wants to see as it adjusts to the demands of the pandemic.”
In terms of nominations, the film Mak leads the songs with 10 nominations, while Nomadland has six nominations.
The Father, starring British Oscar winners Sir Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman, also has six nominations.
Other British stars and newcomers eligible for an award include Carey Mulligan, who gong for Best Actress, and Vanessa Kirby from The Crown for the same award, and Riz Ahmed for Best Actor.
New British director Emerald Fennell has also been nominated for her movie Promising Young Woman.
