Amber Heard teases Aquaman 2’s return after Mera spin-off rumors

Earlier this year, Amber and a British publication won a lawsuit against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. The lawsuit involved allegations that Johnny was a “woman beater”. Since then Amber wants to continue her acting career. The star, who turns 35 today, was last seen on screen in HBO’s highly anticipated Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The actor appeared in newly shot scenes alongside Jared Leto as Joker and Ben Affleck as Batman.

Amber appeared in the film’s final moments during Batman’s “Knightmare” vision where she wielded Aquaman’s (Jason Momoa) trident and vowed to kill Superman for killing her husband.

Prior to her new scenes in ZSJL, Amber’s biggest performance was in the Aquaman solo movie in 2018, where she played Princess Mera.

The star’s latest Instagram post was a throwback from when she was filming the DC Comics movie that year.

The photo, seen below, showed Amber reading a book on the set of the movie – a trait Jason didn’t like about her at the time.

Amber revealed in 2018, “I love Jason, we had so much fun together … [but] he is allergic to be ignored! And I’m a bookworm, I like to read, so when there’s a break on set I like to read.

“[Jason] learned quickly [that she’d have a book on hand], so he adopted this method of tearing the pages of my book, so I would watch him, and it would drive me crazy because I would have 30 pages left and they would be gone! “

She referred to this by endorsing her new Instagram post, “Before Aquaman pulled the last pages of this book.”

She then added the hashtag “# gettingakindleforaquaman2”, seemingly confirming her appearance in the sequel.

Amber’s future in the Aquaman series has been a bit shaky in recent months.

The actor was touched by rumors that she had been fired from the film following her public lawsuit against Johnny, but these would later be false.

Aquaman 2 will be released on December 16, 2022, so production and filming is expected to start within the next six months.

In the meantime, further rumors have suggested that Amber will be making a new movie on her own.

Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman recently announced that Amber is “hoping for her own spin-off movie” as Mera.

Mera is a huge character in the DC Comics universe, so there is a lot of material available for her to use.

Additionally, DC Comics doesn’t currently have any upcoming female-led superhero movies, while their main rivals, Marvel, are releasing Black Widow next month, following the close of their WandaVision Disney Plus show.

With Amber reportedly on the lookout for her own Mera movie franchise, DC may be willing to work with her in the future.

It is also rumored that Amber will have a stake in the next iteration of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

As reported in November 2020, the star has apparently “had discussions” about appearing in a future movie in the Disney franchise.

Meanwhile, Johnny’s role in the Pirates series is still a mystery, with Disney refusing to make an announcement whether he’s still involved or not.

However, Johnny lost his spot in the Harry Potter series’ Fantastic Beasts, where he played antagonist Gellert Grindelwald.

Aquaman is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.

Pirates of the Caribbean movies are available on Disney Plus.
