It was announced last year that Netflix is currently developing a live action series and an animated series based on the highly popular and long-running Ubisoft video game franchise, Assassin’s Creed.
Now, in an interview with Eurogamer, Assassin’s Creed transmedia director Aymar Azaïzia gave an update on both upcoming projects. Regarding the live action series, Azaïzia stated that while the project has recently brought in talent, they cannot share additional information at this time.
“Yes. [Silence, laughs.] I can’t give you any further information, but we’ve secured a number of talents and are working with them on the show. We have nothing more to report except that we are working on it and have taken our time. We learned a lot from the film and there’s a really strong team behind it, and I’m super hopeful and super happy with the format. I think the TV series format works better for a Assassin’s Creed story.”
Azaïzia later discussed the Netflix animated series confirming that the team is working on the Far Cry animated series first with the Assassin’s Creed series to follow afterwards.
“It’s still running – it’s the guys who make us the Raving Rabbids TV show that also includes the Far Cry animated series. Those guys really focus on that. It’s not the next project in their pipeline, but it’s still in their hands. It’s not canned. “
While details on both television projects are currently sparse, the latest installment of the video game series is titled Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, was released in November for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Stadia.
