Ahead of its US release in May, a poster and trailer have come online for director Benjamin Duffield’s upcoming science fiction. 2149: the aftermath. In the year 2149, a young man named Darwin lives, just like everyone else; in a small cement module with little more than a computer. He uses it for everything. Verbal communication has died out, but he often chats with his mother. Darwin fears the outside world, which is widely believed to be contaminated. One night, during a violent storm, lightning strikes Darwin’s module, causing his computer to shut down. He is forced to do the unthinkable and go out into the vast landscape. He is surprised to meet a beautiful young woman named Dara who lives with her family in a cottage in the woods. They teach him to speak and show him the value of real human contact. He is forced to go on a journey and share the knowledge of his new found life with his mother who is still trapped… but will it be too late for her?

2149: The Aftermath is scheduled for release on May 18.
