The script for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is ready, James Gunn confirms

During a Disney Investor Day in December, it was announced that writer and director James Gunn would once again return to the Marvel world to create a Guardians of the Universe Holiday Special. Now, on Twitter, the filmmaker has confirmed that he has finished writing the script for the Disney + movie.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has previously confirmed this The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be shot back-to-back with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (which is scheduled to begin filming later this year) with the premiere of the holiday special before the third film is released in 2023.

Gunn also confirmed The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which is a canon for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will take place after Taika Waititi’s events Thor: Love and Thunder but before the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Plot details for Vol. 3 are hidden, but it is safe to assume that all Guardians will return, including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Rocket Raccoon, and Karen Gillan as Nebula.
