Mortal Kombat has rebooted into a new movie for 2021. The original movie, released in 1995, is nothing like the 2021 caper, directed by Simon McQuoid and co-produced by director James Wan. The film has already impressed fans, who have rated the film highly in its early release.

Is Mortal Kombat on Amazon Prime or Netflix?

In the US, there is only one place to enjoy Mortal Kombat: on HBO Max.

Mortal Kombat is distributed by Warner Bros, who signed a deal with HBO Max as an online distributor for 2021.

This was in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, when many movie versions were delayed or even canceled due to movie theaters closing.

As a result, HBO Max and Warner Bros came to a decision that meant that WB films could be shown in the US market from the comfort of their own home.

The slate included Wonder Woman 1984, Dune, Judas and the Black Messiah, In the Heights, Space Jam: A New Legacy, and The Suicide Squad.

However, in the UK, HBO Max has not been made available which means that there must be several ways these movies can be enjoyed.

Before Wonder Woman 1984, Sky Cinema and NOW had access to the movie, while Judas and the Black Messiah was available on Amazon Prime Video as a premium rental.

At the moment there is no information on how to watch Mortal Kombat in the UK as it has not been confirmed by the distributor.

However, there is hope for a cinematic release as Warner Bros also recently signed a deal with Cineworld, the UK cinema chain.

Cineworld will exclusively show Warner Bros movies when they come out in the UK, meaning there’s a chance that a cinema near you will show Mortal Kombat on the big screen.

If the lockdown roadmap continues as outlined, it would mean Mortal Kombat could have a cinematic release as early as May 17, when movie theaters can reopen.

Express.co.uk will update this story when the release notes for the movie are confirmed.
