Later this year, Dominic Toretto continues his Fast and Furious legacy with the ninth film in the series. The trailer for the movie has already teased a lot of incredible car stunts, but Dom star Diesel has revealed that it will also focus a lot more on his character’s backstory.
Diesel recently noted that many fans of the series don’t know about Dom.
During the debut episode of the official Fast and Furious podcast, EW’s BINGE: The Fast Saga, Diesel revealed how the story will focus on Dom’s backstory.
He said, “The whole world is excited about the release of this movie, but for those who’ve been with the franchise, it’s even more special.
“Because if you can remember the first movie, now you’re going to go for the first movie and understand the first movie even better. That is cool. I’m a D&D chief so that’s just like the original stuff. “

Some of this information has already been teased in the movie’s trailer.
Dom’s brother Jakob Toretto (John Cena) appeared in the latest clips.
Previously, no mention had been made of the character, indicating that the couple may have gone through a rough patch in their relationship.
Diesel continued, “So to see relatives you never thought you would have seen is going to blow your mind.”

Diesel continued, “We wanted to know where Dom was before he became Dom? Who were his influences? That will be a whole story full of stories and very nice to watch. “
It is not yet certain whether Cena will stick around for the upcoming Fast and Furious 10 and 11 films, which will serve as the final back-to-back story for the franchise.
He couldn’t say much about the last films in the series, but was keen to tease the fans a bit.

Diesel said on the podcast, “Just wait [Fast and Furious] 10.
“Let’s just say the fact that you know the studio is saying we can’t cover all this terrain that needs to be covered in just one movie, you can only imagine what’s to come.”
He also recently spoke candidly about finding Cena for the on-screen role of his brother, calling his late co-star Paul Walker the reason for hiring the former wrestler.
Diesel said in a press conference, “I remember once we got closer to production, [director] Justin [Lin] and I would tell how harrowing it would be to actually cast a new Toretto, Toretto’s brother. “
Diesel continued, “There are so many different directions you can go. And I remember John Cena entering this Dom shrine that I had, where I was going to meditate and exercise and get into that Dom state of mind.
And I remember John coming in and … call this crazy, but I remember feeling like Pablo, Paul Walker, sent him in. I remember talking to Justin that night and saying, ‘My feeling and my heart feel like this was meant to be. ‘”
Fast and Furious 9 was originally set to release last year, but the coronavirus pandemic prompted distributors Universal Pictures to push it back to July.
However, more Fast and Furious movies have been announced in the meantime.
Fast and Furious 9 will be released in the UK on July 8, 2021.
