Elden Ring could be further delayed, FromSoftware owner, Kadokawa Corporation, has suggested.

The upcoming action RPG from the developer of Dark Souls was announced at E3 2019, but other leaks aside, the title remains a bit of a mystery. Several ‘insiders’ have repeatedly claimed that publisher Bandai Namco will show off new official footage of the game, but so far we only got the official announcement trailer from two years ago.

So when will FromSoftware’s dark fantasy game come out? Well, according to most recent financial results report From Kadokawa Corporation, FromSoftware’s parent company, it doesn’t look like the title will be out anytime soon.

In Kadokawa’s earnings presentation to investors, the publisher is warning investors of additional delays due to uncertainties arising from the global pandemic.

“In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, the company will target operating profit of 14 billion yen,” the report reads. “Given the uncertainty of a possible further serious situation caused by COVID-19, the lower limits of 10 billion yen are predicted.”

“Delayed development of new works”, the presentation cites as one of the main reasons for setting lower limits given the impact of COVID-19 on the game business segment.

This suggests that Elden Ring will not be released until March 2022 noted by analyst Daniel Ahmad, it is also possible that Elden Ring was not included in Kadokawa’s prediction due to uncertainty about the timing of the release.

Honestly, with much of the game still shrouded in mystery, we didn’t expect Elden Ring to be released anyway anyway. Still, this can be a disappointing development for fans of the game.
