While Paramount + has yet to confirm that a third season has been given the green light, it has been rumored for a while that the upcoming second season of Star Trek: Picard is filming seasons two and three back-to-back, and now it appears to have been confirmed by actor John de Lancie.
According to a report by Trek Movie (through Dark horizons), the Lancie – who reprises his Star Trek: The Next Generation role as Q – seemingly let the cat out of the bag with a message on Cameo last month, stating that:
“Q is coming back. In fact, I’ve been filming on Picard for the past two weeks and really annoying Picard – really annoying him. Patrick was really happy to see me for the first few days and after a few more days of really nasty scenes he said, “So how many episodes are you doing?” In other words, “When are you going to get out of my sight?” And the answer is six episodes. I think they will come out – actually I don’t know. But we are now all running seasons two and three at the same time. “
In season two of Star Trek: Picard, Patrick Stewart is joined by returning season one cast members Jeri Ryan, Brent Spiner, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera and Orla Brad, while Whoopi Goldberg and LeVar Burton are believed to reprise their roles as Guinan and Geordi La Forge.
Star Trek: Picard season two is expected to air on Paramount + in 2022.
