The Resident Evil Village demo hit all platforms yesterday, allowing fans to dive into the ‘Village’ demo and the ‘Castle’ demo. But whether you’re playing one or the other, CAPCOM has set a shared timer of one hour of gameplay; after that, you will no longer be able to play the Resident Evil Village demo by default.
However, such measures are usually short-lived on PC, and it took only a few hours for someone to come up with a solution. Steam community user ‘Leaves’ posted the following guide:
1. Disable Steam Cloud for RE8 Demo
2. Download Steam SAM (Steam performance manager)
3. Delete local save files (location: D: Steam userdata V1541780 remote win64_save ‘Delete those files.
4. Start Steam SAM
5. Select RE8 Demo
6. Delete achievements and statistics, confirm.
Info: If you don’t want to reset the settings over and over again, reset everything, run the demo to the main menu, change all the settings you need and close the game. Now go to your Local Save Files location and copy data00-1.bin (this is where those settings will be saved). Once you need to reset the timer, skip to step 3 and just add the data00-1.bin you saved to the folder. This will reset the timer to one hour, but will also keep any custom settings you made.
Resident Evil Village is just four days away from the global May 7th launch date, when the latest entry in CAPCOM’s survival horror franchise releases for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S | X and Google Stadia. Resident Evil 7 protagonist Evan Winters is back as the main protagonist, chasing his kidnapped daughter Rosemary into a village full of crazy, mutated townspeople. Beloved Resident Evil character Chris Redfield will also make an appearance, albeit in a capacity that makes it unclear whether he will be a friend or an enemy.
