This Christmas, Tom Holland returns in Spider-Man No Way Home alongside Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. And as Marvel wants to explore the multiverse in Phase 4 of the MCU, there are a lot of rumors that former Peter Parker stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return to their roles for the film. Now the latter has been asked about his involvement, and his answer was particularly intriguing – especially at the end.
The interviewer appeared on The Happy Sad Confused Podcast and was somewhat aware that he had screwed up Spider-Man No Way Home spoilers by asking Garfield if he was in the movie.
But The Amazing Spider-Man star cut him off, “There’s nothing that can ruin bro! I just have to cut you off quickly!
‘There’s nothing to screw up! Dude it’s fucking hilarious to me because I have this Twitter account and I see how many times Spider-Man is trending and it’s like people are freaking out somewhere.
And I’m like, ‘Guys! I wish I could just talk to everyone and say like I recommend you chill! ”

Garfield continued, “Look, listen. I can speak for nothing but myself.
“They may be doing something, but I don’t have a call!”
The 37-year-old then compared the theories of his involvement in Spider-Man No Way Home to a game of werewolf or mafia, with everyone pointing at him and saying something along the lines of “It’s you, yes you are!”
After this, the interviewer went in for a simple “yes” or “no” to the star’s involvement in the new MCU movie.

Garfield replied, “I feel like I didn’t just say that ?! I have not received a call.
“Listen, listen, I should have called by now. Look, I don’t want to screw up [anything], might they want to call me? “
Well, that wasn’t quite a “no” from the star of the last two Spider-Man movies released before the Netherlands entered the MCU.
Fans in the comments pointed out that Garfield could have gotten an email instead of a phone call or maybe even contacted his agent?

And at the end of the day, when Garfield is in Spider-Man’s No Way Home, Marvel is big on keeping spoilers secret, so he no doubt should have signed a nondisclosure agreement.
And with Alfred Molina recently admitting to reprising his Doc Ock from Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 in the new movie, it seems that the multiverse aspects of No Way Home are all but confirmed.
After all, the Sorcerer will accompany Supreme Holland’s Peter, just three months before his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
And interestingly, that movie is being directed by Maguire trilogy director Sam Raimi, so we wouldn’t be surprised if a Sony Spider-Man or two also showed up in that blockbuster hit.
Spider-Man No Way Home is just one of four MCU movies hitting theaters this year.
The Sony blockbuster will be preceded by Black Widow in July, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in September, and Eternals in November.
Doctor Strange will appear in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels in 2022 – followed by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 3 in 2023.
Spider-Man No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
