Guardians won’t have to wait long to play another wave of content, with Destiny 2 Season 14 launching for hours to come.

In Season of the Splicer, Guardians return to the Vault of Glass to defeat a new Vex, with new weapons and returning favorites also being released.

According to Bungie, the Vault of Glass will feel familiar, but there will be some notable differences, while still maintaining its core competitive value.

A message from Bungie explains, “Our goal is not to fundamentally evolve this raid into something completely new. So this will be the first race (outside of the previous hard modes) in which players will have a broad understanding of what to expect, while still dealing with changes to adapt to.

“Vault of Glass is started with competition mode on for 24 hours. You must have 1300 Power to be at the top of all encounters.

Vault of Glass isn’t returning this week as part of the new Destiny 2 Weekly Reset, but we’ll know when Season of the Splicer and all of the other content will go live.

WHEN DOES DESTINY 2 SEASON BEGIN FROM THE SPLICER?

Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer has a launch date for Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

Destiny 2 Season 14 will start after the usual weekly reset, but there will also be additional maintenance and server downtime.

This means that gamers will have to wait a little longer than usual for all maintenance to be completed.

The good news is that servers should only be offline for a few hours, after which time everything should be available for download.

Guardians must update their version of Destiny 2 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms to gain access.

The Destiny 2 Season 14 release date is set for 6:00 PM BST, but some Guardians may be queued and have to wait until May 11 closer to 7:00 PM BST.

The official timelines shared by Bungie for Season of the Splicer are as follows:

9:00 a.m. PDT (1600 UTC): Maintenance begins.

9:45 a.m. PDT (1645 UTC): Players will be removed from activities. Destiny 2 will be taken offline.

10:00 a.m. PDT (1700 UTC): Update 3.2.0 is available for all platforms and regions. Players can log back into Destiny 2.

11 a.m. PDT (1800 UTC): Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to be completed.

This also means that any outstanding rewards or loot from Season of the Chosen should be claimed as soon as possible, with Bungie telling fans:

Season of the Chosen ends on May 11th. Before the season ends, players who have earned the Chosen, Conqueror and Flawless titles must claim and equip them to ensure they are not removed.

Multiple Bungie Rewards should also be earned in-game by May 11 at 10am PDT, and claimed on the Bungie Rewards site by May 14, 2021 at 9:59 am PDT:

  • Europe Penguin figurine
  • Selected Seal Pin (Players must equip the title to ensure it is earned)
  • Hawkmoon Long sleeve shirt
  • Guardian Games Gold Medal Pin
  • Guardian Games 2021 Jacket

“As we previously announced, the Chosen Season’s Challenges will end when Season of the Chosen ends and Season of the Splicer begins. Any Season Challenges required to upgrade the HELM war table can still be completed. “

More news about Destiny 2 Season 14 is expected to be shared via full patch notes after this week’s Destiny update is released.
