Dirt 5 drew a lot of attention as the first major racing game on next-generation consoles, but the rush to be available at the launch of the PS5 and XSX means the game will ship without some major features. Luckily, a few big fan requests are being added to the game’s latest update, namely cross-platform matchmaking and ghost lap times! You can get an overview of all new content and features included in the “Red Bull Revolution” updateBelow.

Matchmaking on multiple platforms

More action and fun awaits in DIRT 5’s online multiplayer modes, with the addition of cross-platform matchmaking compatibility for Xbox, PlayStation and PC players (Windows Store and Steam). Another important community request added to the game is that crossplay allows all public lobbies to connect players across platforms, further boosting online activity when you jump in. That means busy lobbies and more excitement at every event. If you are matchmaking with a group of players, all group members must have cross-platform matchmaking enabled to ensure they can match with racers on other platforms.

Ghost lap times

In Time Trial and Playgrounds (Gate Crasher) you have the option to display relevant lap times from the global leaderboard directly on the track: the worldwide fastest lap, the worldwide lap closest to your time, the lap your time is up. friends, or your own personal best time. Check out the racing lines, figure out where to skim the seconds, and take off by defeating the ghosts of real players from the same platform.

More playground equipment

We’re adding even more variety to the mode, with wet and stormy weather conditions for each location! Add a little extra challenge to your creations by wetting surfaces with low traction, and bring some spectacle to your map by choosing stormy conditions, complete with lightning strikes and driving rain. This option is available for all playground arenas in Arizona, South Africa and Italy.
