Tom Hardy will reprise his role in the Sony-produced Marvel series Venom later this year. The new trailer for the second movie in the franchise, Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, released today, reveals just how much of a threat is Venom’s greatest nemesis.

Hardy reprises the role of Eddie Brock, a San Francisco reporter who works on stories to make himself a respected journalist.

However, it looks like there’s a lot to prove in the new trailer, as Woody Harrelson is back at full power as Carnage.

Harrelson had a brief cameo in the first Venom movie after the credits rolled.

He plays the well-known Marvel serial killer Cletus Kasady, who gets a symbiote of his own.

Cletus’s red symbiote called Carnage is far more powerful than the already devastatingly potent Venom.

His powers are very different, however, as Carnage has the ability to transform his limbs and tendrils into weapons and sharp objects.

Obviously, this poses a significant threat to Eddie, Venom and any innocent bystanders he encounters.

Unlike other Marvel villains, Carnage and Cletus are psychotic killers who want to do damage wherever they can.

This means that Venom will work to save the people of San Franciso.

It was recently rumored that Sony’s Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) could make an appearance in the upcoming movie.

As Spidey’s next movie, No Way Home, is going to venture into the Spider-Verse, Peter Parker could cross dimensions and meet Venom for the first time.

This would be a momentous event as Venom is Spidey’s nemesis and having both of them on the screen at the same time would please countless Marvel comic fans.

Earlier this year, We Got This Covered reported that Marvel boss Kevin Feige was keen to get Hardy on board in the ongoing MCU.

They also explained that if fans were to see Venom appear opposite Spidey, it would most likely be along with other members of the Sinister Six.

The Vulture (Michael Keaton) and Scorpion (Michael Mando) are currently featured in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Jared Leto also stars in another villain-focused movie, Morbius, as the titular character.

With Morbius in tow, as well as Venom, Spidey has its fair share of enemies to fight.

However, other rumors suggest he will take on these enemies alongside former Spider-Men actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

This would create a live-action Spider-Verse situation, where the characters would fight for the safety of multiple universes.

Venom 2 Let There Be Carnage will be released on September 24, 2021.
