In a statement from Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, “many new software titles” will be released this fiscal year. This in response to a question about the current number of active Switch users, which has received a huge influx since the beginning of 2020.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nintendo Switch has seen a surge in sales, which has also been attributed to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Recently, the release of Monster Hunter Rise has also seen an increase in activity on the Nintendo Switch.

The full statement made during the Q&A can follow:

After the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there was a significant increase in the number of consumers playing Nintendo Switch. After that there was a gradual decline, but last year there was another significant increase during the year-end holiday season, reaching the highest number of active users since the release of Nintendo Switch. While the numbers have declined slightly after the start of this calendar year, many consumers are playing Nintendo Switch with the recent March release of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise, so we don’t think the momentum is waning.

Many new software titles will be released this fiscal year, starting in the first quarter, which we believe will help to continuously expand the reach of consumers who play Nintendo Switch to include those who haven’t played Nintendo Switch in a while or who are fully are new users. .

With E3 around the corner, we could expect these new titles to be revealed. From now on, we can certainly expect the next fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and some new information about the Breath of the Wild 2.
