A new update has just been released to the Microsoft Outlook app that allows Apple Watch users to reply to emails directly on the wearable itself. Version 4.2119.0 of the iOS Outlook app has added this new functionality, allowing people to quickly reply to an Outlook email on their Apple Watch with suggested replies, dictation, or scribble. Suggested replies will likely come in handy if you’re on the go and just need to quickly fire up a very short email on Outlook that needs a simple reply.

However, dictation will probably be the most preferred way to reply to an Outlook email on Apple Watch – because then users can simply dictate the answer they want with the wearable that converts what has been said into text.

For longer emails, this can be an extremely useful, time-saving feature.

The other way to reply to Outlook emails on an Apple Watch, doodle, lets you write down what you want to say on the device’s screen, which will be automatically converted to text.

The latest Android and iOS updates to the Outlook apps come after the popular email service suffered a massive outage this week, preventing users from creating or viewing emails.

The outage affected the desktop version of Microsoft Outlook and users around the world.

When users tried to view an email on Outlook desktop instead of seeing the message body, they were greeted with a single line of text or a small portion of the email.

And when users tried to create a new email, Outlook automatically deleted text written every time the enter key was pressed.

Microsoft said the bug was caused by “a recent change in systems that facilitate text rendering management” that was rolled out with an Outlook update.

Fortunately, the frustrating problem has now been resolved.
