The next major Chrome update from Mountain View company is version 91, which will be released later this month. But if the most important thing on your Chrome wishlist is a speed boost, then it’s Chrome Update 92, rolling out on the stable channel from July 20, that you should really keep an eye out for. Google has over the years tested a way to make pages that appear when you press the back or forward button next to the URL bar load even faster.

Last year, back-forward cache support was added to the Android version of Chrome, instantly loading pages that users navigated to when they hit the back or forward button.

And now Google is bringing this feature to Chrome on macOS, Windows 10 and Linux with the upcoming release of Chrome 92.

If you currently close a page in Chrome for desktop, it will be immediately deleted to free up memory.

The forthcoming ‘back-forward cache’ will change all that and make sure resources don’t have to be reloaded.

Regarding the feature in a support document, Google said, “Back-forward cache is a browser feature that improves the user experience by keeping a page alive after the user navigates away from it and reusing it for browsing the session history (browser back / forward buttons , history.back (), etc.) to make the navigation instant The pages in the cache are frozen and do not run javascript “.

Windows Newest reported that Google will start rolling out this feature with Chrome 92.

The ‘experimental rollout’ of the feature will begin with that build before being released to more users in the coming months.

Google added, “We have already provided this feature for Android. We want to start experimenting with back-forward cache on desktop environments.”

It’s unclear whether the feature will be enabled for all Chrome users, but those interested in the new time-saving tool can enable it manually via Chrome flags.

In other Google Chrome news earlier this week, Express.co.uk reported on an annoying scam that Chrome Android users should avoid.

The scam is spread by a fake text message stating that the targeted smartphone user has to pay customs fees to release a package with their name on it.

When they click the link in the text message, they are told that their version of Chrome needs to be updated before they can continue.

But instead of downloading a Chrome update, users actually install malware that can monitor the device and steal sensitive financial information such as bank details and credit card numbers.

What’s more, in order to go unnoticed, the malware hides on devices with the icon and name of the regular Chrome app, but the package has nothing in common with the official version.
