Final Fantasy 16 is one of the most highly anticipated JRPGs on the horizon. Announced last year at the PS5 event in September, Final Fantasy 16 goes back to the series’ roots – leaving out the futuristic settings of recent games like Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake for a more medieval backdrop. With Yoshi P, the man who turned Final Fantasy 14’s fortunes around, working on FF16 anticipation is high for what Square Enix has planned next for the revered JRPG series.

Square Enix teased that news of Final Fantasy 16 is coming in 2021, while rumors previously claimed that FF16 is more evolving than many people think.

Despite this, Square Enix seems to have dropped its biggest hint yet about the Final Fantasy 16 release date.

And for anyone hoping for FF16 to be released in 2021, that’s bad news.

In its latest tax report, Square Enix said it would focus on new IPs in the period ending March 2022, with major IPs in the following years.

That could indicate that Final Fantasy 16 will not be released until April 2022.

The news comes courtesy of analyst David Gibson who posted on Twitter, “Square Enix surprised by the results, saying titles coming in the period ending March 2022 will target new IP titles (Outriders, Forspoken, etc.) ), That important IP’s in the next So I guess that means that FF16, DQ12 etc will be April 2022 or later. Surprised #SquareEnix ”.

In other Final Fantasy news, rumors have been circulating that – in addition to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 – another FF7 project could be in the works.

As emphasized in a message There are rumors on Reddit that a Final Fantasy 7 Remake anime could be heading to Netflix.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura are rumored to be behind the new anime.

Nomura-san also directed the 2005 CGI movie Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, and the prospect of the Square Enix legend directing an entire anime series would certainly drive fans wild.

Rumor also claims there could be a Kingdom Hearts series in the works for Disney Plus.

This may all sound too good to be true … and it could, with this rumor coming from the infamous internet bulletin board 4chan.

But while 4chan is home to a lot of fake leaks, a number of legitimate leaks have also been posted – like the first Pokemon Let’s Go reveal.

As always with rumors, it is best to take it with a grain of salt until official confirmation. But fans won’t have to wait long to find out for sure what Square Enix’s future plans are.

The Final Fantasy creators are being confirmed for E3 next month, so we should find out some of the things the Shinjuku-based game giant has in store then.
