Added Diablo IV files to PlayStation database indicating some sort of testing is imminent

The full release of Diablo IV is a long way off – Blizzard has said it won’t arrive in 2021 and 2022 isn’t a guarantee – but maybe some sort of testing is imminent. Why do I say that? Well, recently one mystery game under the fill ID “WELOOOOVEDOGS” has been added to the PlayStation Network database. According to the people of PlayStation game size this mysterious PS Store addition has been uploaded by Activision in both PS4 and PS5 versions, weighs about 44 GB and has an age rating of 17+

Initially, many speculated that the mystery game was something to do with CoD, maybe Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered, but Twitter user Justinxrubin did some research, found and downloaded a list of distribution media, which contain … a Diablo IV logo.

Before you get too excited, no, it doesn’t mean Diablo IV is coming out on PS4 / PS5 anytime soon. What it is doing probably means that Blizzard is preparing to run some sort of console test. While a full beta is probably a long way off, Blizzard may be planning some sort of closed tech alpha or maybe just internal “friends and family” testing. Blizzard recently released their Frequently asked questions about accessing PC Diablo IV alpha / beta, so testing may be closer than you think. If so, this is encouraging evidence that Diablo IV development is continuing at a solid pace.

Diablo IV has only been officially announced for PC, Xbox One and PS4, and it’s also very likely to be coming to Xbox Series X / S and PS5 too. A release date has yet to be set. At this year’s BlizzCon, we got a first look at the game’s updated Rogue class.
