The film follows Jon (Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Andrew Garfield), a young theater composer who sits at a dinner table in New York City in 1990 as he writes what he hopes will become the next great American musical. Days before he has to put his work on display in a make-or-break performance, Jon feels the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan, who dreams of an artistic life outside of New York City; from his friend Michael, who has moved from his dream to a life of financial security; amid an artistic community ravaged by the AIDS epidemic. As the clock ticks, Jon finds himself at a crossroads and faced with the question everyone should consider: What should we do with the time we have?
