Obsidian soon presented another update to Grounded, as well as announcing The Outer Worlds 2 at E3 2021, although fans of Pillars of Eternity may have been disappointed with the absence of Avowed, the first-person RPG set in the world of Eora announced about a year ago.
However, the developers were quick to reassure them in a short statement shared on the Xbox Wire blog. Apparently the game will be showcased ‘soon’.
For those wondering confesses, the team is hard at work creating something that we know fans of our games and the Pillars of Eternity universe will love. While we’re not showing anything right now, we look forward to showing you what we’ve been working on soon.
About when you should expect to play it, VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb believes the current goal is to release Avoved in 2023, along with a slew of other big Xbox Game Studios titles, including Playground’s Fable, The Initiative’s Perfect Dark, Ninja Theory’s Hellblade 2, Avalanche’s newly announced co-op smuggling game Contraband, and even the next games from inXile, coercion and the coalition. Even Rare’s Everwild could make it, though it could also slip the following year, as the creative director left the company not too long ago.
If that were true it would be a great stacked lineup. We were honestly hoping to play Hellblade 2 in 2022 as it was first announced in late 2019. After all, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was launched in August 2017, meaning 2023 would be six years later.
Compulsion Games would also enjoy five years after the release of We Happy Few, while inXile would show an incredibly fast development pipeline if it managed to launch just three years after the release of Wasteland 3.
However, we’re a little more skeptical about Perfect Dark making it before 2023, as the studio behind it is brand new and may experience some bumps along the way.
