Jurassic World 3 Dominion: Director Colin Trevorrow Talks Huge Time Jump

The final moments of Jurassic World 2: Fallen Kingdom were stunning for fans of the series. At the end of the film, the remaining dinosaurs made by InGen were released on American soil, meaning they were going to take over the rest of the world. Jurassic World 3 Dominion is going to continue this trend, but with a huge difference.

Director of the film Colin Trevorrow has now spoken out about the upcoming story and when the events will take place.

The gap between Jurassic World and Jurassic World 2 was only three years. Both are set in the years when they were released in theaters.

This means that Jurassic World was set in 2015 and Jurassic World 2 was set three years later, in 2018.

Trevorrow has now revealed in an interview with Screen Rant that this trend will continue in Jurassic World 3: Dominion.

Trevorrow told the publication: “Everything on my mind has always been kind of contemporary.

“So [the short film, Battle at] Big Rock took place a year or so after Fallen Kingdom in 2019 when it came out, and the T-Rex has just been in the Sierra Nevada forest they all escaped to.

“It’s absolutely huge; it’s a whole part of the state. And so she just lives there; they’ve been struggling to get her for a long time.”

Speaking of Jurassic World 3, the director added, “So this is about four years later — it’s when the movie comes out, so 2022.”

Jurassic World 3: Dominion is currently out on June 10, 2022.

The four-year time jump between films means a lot has happened.

Since the last film ended with the release of the dinosaurs, they would now have had several years to find new habitats and bolster their numbers.

This also means that the creatures would have had ample time to exterminate any number of people who opposed them.

While humans could certainly take out the dinosaurs with weapons, the unexpected arrival of the monsters could have been enough to take over.

Fortunately, the new movie in the franchise uses some classic members of the Jurassic Park franchise to help in the fight against the dinosaurs.

The cast list includes Dr Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Dr Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum).

In August last year, Neill spoke publicly about his character’s return in a message to his 480k followers on Twitter.

Neill said, “Hold on your hat – put my old one back on this week and do battle with dinosaurs.

“The best yet. Excited and terrified – these things will kill you. Featuring Laura Dern, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, Jeff Goldblum and Colin Trevorrow.” (sic)

He added: “I’m obviously a bit more… gray now…”

Jurassic World 3: Dominion will be released on June 10, 2022.
