In a recent video from Multiplayer.it, they spoke to Mario + Rabbids developers: Sparks of Hope, Davide Soliani and Cristina Nava. One of the details they shared was how big the development team was for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.

Compared to the first game, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Sparks of Hope consists of additional teams outside the teams of Milan and Paris. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle had a development team of about 100 developers. The upcoming game comes in at about triple the development team from the first game.

Davide Soliani, creative director of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, is known for shedding tears during the game’s reveal at E3 2017. Shigeru Miyamoto had praised him and the game.

With a much bigger development team, Sparks of Hope could be more polished. We will also see that it has new features and changes. One of the changes is that the team composition knows no limits. This means that your team can consist of all Mario characters or all Rabbids, which has been a much requested feature from fans.

Another change in the sequel is the forgoing of the tile-based movement for more freedom of movement within a certain range. The game will also feature more exploration, although it will necessarily be an open world game.

It’s no surprise that more resources have been put into the game. After all, the first game is well received both critically and commercially. This sequel is an opportunity to leverage and implement fan feedback.

Nintendo’s E3 was pretty strong, at least compared to the rest of the presentations. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will be a heavy hitter of 2022 for Ubisoft and Nintendo. Since the release date isn’t out yet this year, we still don’t have a lot of additional information about the game.

However, with Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope featuring a larger development team, we can expect it to offer an even greater experience than the first game.
