Netflix New Shows: The Best New Additions on Netflix UK This Week (9th July 2021) – Netflix News

Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

The most popular film addition this week has been the indie horror Midsommar where a couple travels to Scandinavia to visit a rural hometown’s fabled Swedish mid-summer festival; but what begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult. In the horror film Split a man with multiple identities abducts three teenage girls, who must find a way to escape before his newest, most dangerous personality takes over. In District 9 Violence ensues after an extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth finds a kindred spirit in a government agent exposed to their biotechnology. In The Young Offenders two teenage boys cycle 160km on stolen bikes pursued by police to find a missing bale of cocaine worth €7 million. Set around the real event of Ireland’s biggest cocaine seizure in 2007 of €440 million. In the Russian action film Major Grom: Plague Doctor a masked vigilante’s killing spree throws a city into chaos, and a renegade detective and his rookie partner are the only ones who can stop it. How I Became a Superhero is set in Paris 2020 and superheroes are perfectly assimilated within society and want to be famous at all costs – A drug that gives super powers to mere mortals is spreading all over town. Finally for films this week we have Fear Street Part 2: 1978 where in Shadyside, 1978. School’s out for summer and the activities at Camp Nightwing are about to begin. But when another Shadysider is possessed with the urge to kill, the fun in the sun becomes a gruesome fight for survival.

For TV on Netflix UK we have I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson is a sketch show, where Tim Robinson and guests spend each segment driving someone to the point of needing – or desperately wanting – to leave. RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness is based on the popular video game series of the same name; and sees Federal agent Leon S. Kennedy team up with TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield to investigate a zombie outbreak. The Spanish drama The Cook of Castamar is set in early 18th-century Madrid, and the plot follows the love story between an agoraphobic cook and a widowed nobleman. Finally for series this week we have the Mexican comedy The War Next-door which sees two antagonistic families end up living next door in a posh neighbourhood, and the matriarchs ensue a full-scale war of unintended consequences.

For documentaries this week we have Awon Boyz which takes a close look at the lives and passions of the men and boys who hustle on the streets of Lagos. In Born to Be Wild survivalist Andrew Ucles explores the jungles, rivers and plains of three continents with the residents who knows them best: the local animals. Cat People tells the stories of some of the most remarkable and surprising “cat people” in the world, defying negative stereotypes while revealing the truth of what it means to love such fiercely independent creatures. Dogs explores the abiding emotional bonds that form between dogs and their caregivers, no matter the circumstances. Elize Matsunaga: Once Upon a Crime looks into the case of Elize Matsunaga who shot and dismembered her rich husband in a crime that shocked Brazil. How to Become a Tyrant looks into the lives of some of history’s most tyranical rulers.

For kids and families this week we have We the People teaches the basics of rights and citizenship with upbeat songs by popular artists like Janelle Monáe, H.E.R., Adam Lambert, Brandi Carlile and more. In Dora and the Lost City of Gold Dora finds herself leading Boots, Diego, a mysterious jungle inhabitant, and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization. In How to Train Your Dragon a hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed. Finally for this week we have The Water Man which sees 11-year-old Gunner run away from home on a quest to save his ill mother by searching for a mythic figure said to have magical healing powers.
