Best Netflix shows to watch if you like Manifest

Since Manifest started streaming on Netflix, the canceled NBC series has been the most-watched show on the platform, holding strong for at least a month. Clearly, new fans have boarded Flight 828 and have become full-fledged Manifesters.

Even though the series has been canceled, and Netflix passed on picking up a fourth season, both new and old fans are still hoping for the sci-fi mystery to make a comeback and finish its story. Whether it’s Manifest season 4 or a wrap-up movie, we’ll take it.

But while the fans who have become obsessed with the series on Netflix wait for the third — and currently final — season to hit their watch lists (here’s where to watch it), there’s plenty of shows just like your new favorite to check out on Netflix.

From throwback sci-fi and post-apocalyptic dramas like The 4400 and Jericho to recent Netflix original hits like Into the Night and Raising Dion, don’t miss out on some of the best Netflix shows Manifest fans will love.

Best Netflix shows: Sweet Tooth

Based on the limited comic book series of the same name by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth premiered on Netflix in June 2021 and quickly became an unexpected sensation. The fantasy drama counts none other the erstwhile Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. as an executive producer, so you know it’s good.

Sweet Tooth takes place a decade after The Great Crumble introduced hybrids to the world and centers on a hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery). After being sheltered for most of his life, Gus teams up with Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), a loner searching for answers, to go on an adventure and find the truth about his origins.

Even though Sweet Tooth might be a bit “weirder” than Manifest fans are accustomed to, the character-driven story with fantasy and sci-fi elements is definitely something that connects both series. We’re hoping to see the adventure continue in Sweet Tooth season 2 because it’s without a doubt one of the best Netflix shows right now and a must-watch.

The 4400

When a group of 4,400 people land near Mount Rainier, Washington from a ball of light, their pasts prior to their mysterious disappearances are explored. Each of them hail from 1946 or onward, but they haven’t aged. The 4400 shares a character-driven mystery in common with Manifest.

The sci-fi drama aired on the USA Network from 2004 to 2007 for a total of four seasons and 44 episodes, all of which are available to watch on Netflix. It’s just in time for The CW’s upcoming reboot of the same name from a Riverdale producer, on tap to premiere in fall 2021.

Into the Night

The Belgian drama series hits all the notes Manifest fans are looking for: sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, thriller, airplanes. It’s all happening on Into the Night, which follows a group of people flying out of Brussels on a red-eye when their flight gets hijacked. But that’s merely the tip of the iceberg.

Into the Night first debuted on Netflix in May 2020 and earned critical acclaim. The six-episode first season offers high-octane action and mystery, and thankfully, the story will continue in Into the Night season 2 later this year or sometime in 2022.

Travelers

When it comes to underrated Netflix shows, some fans might be all too familiar with the science fiction series Travelers, which was a Canadian co-production and lasted for only three seasons. But it’s never too late to check out the fan-favorite series.

Will & Grace’s Eric McCormack stars in Travelers as Grant MacLaren, the leader of a group of operatives from the future known as travelers, who go back in time to perform risky missions. Add the three-season, 34-episode binge to your watch list when you finish Manifest.

The Rain

If you’re looking for something a touch darker in tone than Manifest, then the Netflix original Danish series The Rain is for you. During its three-season run, the series was among the most popular sci-fi shows on the streamer and was definitely a fan-favorite, not unlike The OA.

The Rain follows a pair of Danish siblings who emerge from a bunker six years after a rainfall causes a virus that wipes out much of humanity. They search for their scientist father and join other survivors to venture into the unknown for answers.

Raising Dion

A current hit on Netflix, Raising Dion comes from high-profile executive producer Michael B. Jordan, who also appears in the series in a small recurring role. The sci-fi superhero drama takes the family elements from Manifest and offers a binge-able series that’s fun for the whole household.

Raising Dion centers on single mother Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her young son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) after the death of her husband and Dion’s father, Mark (Jordan). Suddenly, Dion develops superhero powers, leading the family to take on the task of protecting Dion from those who wish to exploit his newfound abilities.

Jericho

There’s something about prematurely canceled series with passionate fanbases. (Ring any bells?) When the CBS post-apocalyptic action series Jericho was canceled after two seasons in 2008, fans weren’t too happy with the cliffhangers that left the series incomplete.

Jericho stars Riverdale dad Skeet Ulrich and takes place in the titular fictional Kansas town in the wake of a nuclear attack on over 20 cities in the United States. Along with The CW’s gone-too-soon sci-fi series Frequency, add Jericho to your post-Manifest watch list.
