The Haunting of Hill House Director Mike Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy reunite with Netflix for a TV adaptation of James Tynion IV and Werther Dell-Edera’s horror comic series Something is killing the children.
Published by Boom! Studios and launch in 2019, Something is killing the children has proven to be a huge success, winning Eisner, Harvey and Ringo Awards and selling over 1.2 million copies to date. Here’s the official series synopsis:
“When the children of Archer’s Peak go missing, everything seems hopeless. Most children never come back, but those who do have terrible stories – impossible stories about terrifying creatures living in the shadows. Their only hope of finding and eliminating the threat is the arrival of a mysterious stranger, one who believes the children and claims to see what they can see. Her name is Erica Slaughter. She kills monsters. That’s all she does, and she bears the cost because it MUST.”
The new projects extend Flanagan and Macy’s work with Netflix, where they have produced the feature films through their Intrepid Pictures banner. Quiet and Gerard’s game, The Haunting of Hill House and Chasing Bly Manor, and the coming Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club. Should things go forward, Macy is ready to serve as showrunner.
