Spider-Man No Way Home: Amazing Spider-Man star rules out surprise return

Recent articles

Since the title of the next Spider-Man movie was announced, there have been rumors about the plot. No Way Home would not only involve Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the collaboration with Peter Parker (Tom Holland), but also show them taking on the multiverse. As a result, more and more reports emerged claiming that other Spider-Man actors would be reprising their roles as web heads, including Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

Some of these rumors have been more or less confirmed in recent months, with some cast members speaking out about their involvement in the highly anticipated film.

However, a star of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has confirmed that he will not be returning to the big screen.

Paul Giamatti appeared in the 2014 film as Aleksei Sytsevich – better known as the Rhinoceros. After the character was thwarted in the opening crawl of the feature film, he returned in the film’s final moments in the iconic rhino-shaped battle armor.

When asked in a recent interview about the rumors about the return of actors, Giamatti confessed: “I’m happy. [these rumours].” (via comic book)

Giamatti continued: “Someone else just asked me about this, so I hadn’t followed it.

“I’m fine with that. I’m definitely fine with leaving it all where it is. I’m fine with that.”

With Giamatti not returning, it looks like Jamie Foxx will be the only actor from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to return to the big screen in a Spidey movie.

He dropped the Electro out of the bag in 2020 when he posted an image of three Spider-Men taking on his iconic villain on his Instagram account.

Molina told Variety: “When we filmed it, we were all told not to talk about it because it would be a big secret.

“But you know, it’s all over the internet. I basically described myself as the worst kept secret in Hollywood!”

When she returned to the role of Doc Ock, Molina said: “It was great. It was very interesting to go back after 17 years to play the same part, as I now have two chins, a wattle and crow’s feet in the intervening years. … and a slightly dodgy lower back.”

Spider-Man No Way Home hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
