Game company Electronic Arts and DICE recently shared new details about the upcoming and upcoming video game Battlefield 2042.
In a new update on the EA Answers blog postEA has confirmed that the game will have cross-play, but there are some technical details players should check out first. There will be some opt-outs, exceptions and more. Here’s how it will work:
- PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 consoles (PC and console can choose not to play together)
- Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles
The development team is currently building cross-play functionality according to EA and doing some testing on it so that it may change later or stay that way. Anyway, the above is somewhat their end goal at the moment.
Apart from that, EA has also confirmed that cross-progression and “cross-commerce” will be available for all platforms. Players who have unlocked progress on one platform can easily transfer that progress to another platform. Purchases will also be the same and if speculation is correct, this will be managed through an account hosted by EA.
Battlefield 2042 launches on October 22, 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Also expect an upcoming EA Play Live on July 22 for more new details.
