Black Widow: Marvel ‘have plans to bring Scarlett Johansson back through the multiverse’

Two years ago, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow sacrificed itself so that Hawkeye could get the Soul Stone in Avengers Endgame. This was most recently followed by her own prequel film set between Captain America Civil War and Avengers Infinity War. But now sources that have proven to be reliable are claiming that Marvel Studios wants her character to return to the franchise.

The news comes from We Got This Covered sources who correctly predicted a Captain America 4 with Anthony Mackie.

The insiders claim that Marvel wants to bring back Scarlett’s Black Widow without undoing her death in Avengers Endgame.

And since the multiverse is a big theme in the future MCU, a variant of her character could definitely make an appearance in the future.

After all, Loki died in Avengers Infinity War, but there’s now a Disney+ show that follows some alternate versions of the god of mischief.

In fact, hypothetically anyone who has died or left the franchise could now return from Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man to Chris Evans’ Captain America.

There are even rumors that the latter will play an evil HYDRA version of Cap in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The possibilities are endless, but let’s hope using time travel and the multiverse doesn’t undermine the stakes.

As for where a variant Black Widow might appear, the most likely option is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Another possibility is 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as that also involves trips across the multiverse and time.

And then there’s always Avengers 5, which some fans believe will follow the Secret Wars storyline.

This comic book arc saw multiple variants of the Marvel multiverse clash on Battleworld.

Given that Marvel comic book villain Kang the Conqueror is entering the MCU, maybe his variants will fight those of the Avengers?

In addition to Black Widow, there are three more MCU films set to hit theaters this year.

Next up is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on September 3.

This will be followed by Eternals on November 5 and Spider-Man No Way Home on December 17, 2021.

While the latter reportedly features Peter Parker variants played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
